Successful label show boosts Nilpeter's growing presence in India

Nilpeter's successful showing at the India Label Show will boost its presence in this fast-growing market. Held on 3-6 December at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, ILS 2008 was the fourth show since its inception in 2002 and the first organised by the Tarsus Group, organiser of the Labelexpo series. Despite the atrocities in Mumbai just five days previously, the show attracted nearly 5,000 visitors from India, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. About 200 international exhibitors took part.

The company demonstrated an eight-unit FB-3300 Servo UV flexo press with a web width of 330 mm (13 inches). It was equipped with hot-air dryers and interdeck UV curing units. Other equipment included a movable cold foil unit for fitting between any two print units, and a drop-in rotary screen cassette from Stork Prints. It was the most advanced narrow web press of its type at the show and attracted much interest. It also is the first FB-line Servo press to be manufactured by Nilpeter India in Chennai in a joint venture with its Indian partner, Proteck Machinery.

Jakob Landberg, sales and marketing director of Nilpeter, said: 'We went to New Delhi with one overall objective: to state our commitment to the Indian label market, as well as meet current and new customers. All objectives were met in full and we look forward to being an active partner in the future Indian label business.'

According to Manish Kapoor, sales manager of Nilpeter India, the show attracted many top grade visitors who included the serious decisions makers. 'We are pretty happy with the visitor turnout and received quite a few serious leads. Many converters truly appreciate Nilpeter's initiative in setting up a manufacturing base in India, which will further boost the Indian label industry. Converters are very excited at the prospect of having an international flagship model being produced locally providing “next door” access to genuine spare parts and after-sales support. They have embraced the Nilpeter product line with open arms. We will make every effort to strengthen their belief in us, as well as continue to make efforts to broaden the customer base and Nilpeter's footprint in this market', Kapoor added..

The show press was later shipped to its new owners, Synergy Packaging. 'We are very excited at the prospect of having this workhorse producing high quality labels for us', said Ms Sandhya Shetty, managing director. 'We are very confident that our decision to go with Nilpeter is completely justified, specially seeing what this machine could produce in front of us at the show.'
