DuPont Packaging Graphics Develops Cyrel® XD Digital Plate System

DuPont Packaging Graphics today announced development of the Cyrel® XD Hybrid Digital Plate System that allows flexographic platemakers to produce a hybrid digital dot using their existing digital workflows.  The resulting hybrid digital dot has a flat top and broad supports similar to those produced in an analog workflow. “The Cyrel® XD system will allow digital platemakers to use their existing computer to plate (CTP) and plate making systems to produce the hybrid digital dot on an ‘as-needed’ basis.  A low-cost modification to the UV main exposure unit will allow the flexographer to turn the Cyrel® XD system ‘on’ when they wish to produce a hybrid digital dot or ‘off’ when they wish to produce a traditional digital dot,” said Ray Bodwell, marketing manager for DuPont Packaging Graphics. “The commercialization of digital Cyrel® in the mid-90’s introduced the digital dot and ushered in an era of improved consistency, productivity and quality in flexography,” noted Bodwell. “However,

Extremely Rugged

The ((rfid))-High-Temp Label by Schreiner LogiData resists harshest ambient conditions—whether temperatures up to 220 °C (428 °F) or chemicals in the paint shop—undamaged. The label enables automakers to mark vehicle bodies prior, during and after painting. Harsh conditions require rugged solutions. This also applies to marking vehicle bodies during the painting process. Due to the high temperatures and aggressive chemicals in the paint shop it has been difficult to mark car components between the welding stage and final assembly up to now. The ((rfid))-HighTemp Label by Schreiner LogiData facilitates the production processes of automobile manufacturers. It is suitable for high temperatures and can be equipped with a paint mask. In addition, the ((rfid))-HighTemp Label achieves reliable reading ranges even in metallic environments. As a result, production process steps can be automatically controlled and perfectly coordinated. Schreiner LogiData offers the ((rfid))-HighTemp label

NEW – rotec® Premium Sleeve for the Highest Print Performance

At this years flexo fair Proflex in Stuttgart, Germany, the rotec ® Premium Sleeve from Flint Group Flexographic Products was presented for the first time and raised a lot of attention. It offers maximum dimensional stability overtime to cope with special printing requirements as well as unique upgrades to meet individual needs. Higher print speeds, standardised ink systems, weight restrictions or continuous strive for higher print quality – this and further factors have lead to an increasing demand for sleeves with an even more advanced quality. Subsequently for certain applications sleeves are required, where the outer diameter or ‘runout’ are not altering overtime and therefore an exact register accuracy and constant parallelism during printing can be counted on. The rotec ® Premium Sleeve meets this requirement perfectly due to its special construction. This new printing sleeve is characterised by minimal tolerances for the diameter and for the r

ECO EIT™ and ECO Booster™: Sidel is launching its first ECO Services to respond to bottlers’ and bottle manufacturers’ economic and environmental concerns.

How does one ensure profitable use of production capacities, while also reducing environmental impact? The answer is just three letters long: ECO. At Drinktec, Sidel launched a new family of products and services, that is aimed at helping bottlers and bottle manufacturers improve the productivity of their equipment in a demanding business context, while also delivering better environmental performance. The first two ECO Services, ECO EIT™ and ECO Booster™, help reduce the impact of packaging materials (lightweighting, use of recycled materials, etc.), decrease water and energy consumption as well as waste and emissions. ECO EIT™: Quantify in order to manage energy consumption better This new module for the EIT™ (Efficiency Improvement Tool) supervisory system uses measurement equipment 24/7 to record data about energy consumption (air, water, electricity, gas, etc.) for a machine, a zone, an entire line or even the whole plant. This unique solution facilitates correlation between

ADHESLEEVE A real revolution.

The two MACROPROBLEMS peculiar to this type of labelling machines have been eliminated in one go. Standard Roll-fed machines utilise: HOT MELT  Glueing the label edges by means of a glue roller is known to present some disadvantages: glue spray and relevant cleaning of the application cylinder; deposit of residual films or labels in the glue regulator (production stops due to cleaning operations); periodic cleaning of the pads during the working shifts; oily fumes produced by the glue heating (150°); LABEL CUT  till today, on all roll-fed machines, the label cut is performed by interaction of rotary cutting blades and one or two fixed ones. The difficulties in the adjustment of the blades during their replacement (4 to 6 hours) are well-known, as well as the production stops due to imperfect label cut. ROLL-ADHESLEEVE Is the  cheapest  and  most ecological  solution in the field of Roll-fed labelling. It uses reels already featuring glue strips, which are applied to the la

Security printing goes for digital plate processing

Flint Group Flexographic Products offers the first digital plate for security printing - nyloprint® WS 230 S Digital Since film manufacturers announced that special films for security plate making will no longer be available, the security printers are forced to search for alternative technologies to image their letterpress plates. An efficient option is the mask ablation of digital plates. The technology is already established in the flexo and letterpress market for many years. The digital plates are masked with a black layer which is imaged by a diode, YAG or fibre-laser at a resolution of up to 10,000 dpi. This technology not only eliminates the film processing and the disadvantages of the image transfer via film, it also offers significant quality improvements for the security printers. In addition to digital plates for direct and indirect letterpress security printing, Flint Group Flexographic Products now offers a digital version of the stencil plate. Hence conventional film p

Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd (CCE) today celebrates the 20th Anniversary of its Wakefield plant, the largest soft drinks manufacturing site in Europe. CCE is also announcing plans to invest £13m in a new can line at Wakefield which will increase production by an additional 2,000 cans every minute. The site at Wakefield opened in 1989 as part of an original investment of £90m. Over the past 20 years, a further investment of £150m means the factory now produces over a million cans of product every day. The new production line will increase the site’s capacity from over 66 cans per second to over 100 cans per second. Over the years the site has established itself as a leader in sustainable development and to mark its 20th birthday, the site’s new pre-form area will be opened by local MP, the Rt Hon Ed Balls.
