Labelexpo Americas highlights package printing opportunities

This year’s Labelexpo Americas sees the debut of the Package Printing Workshops. A brand new feature area, the daily workshops will showcase the opportunities digital pre-press and printing can bring to folding carton production, plastic bucket decoration and high quality tubes. Emirates Printing Press strengthens its packaging business with an investment in a Gallus ICS 670 inline machine system

Emirates Printing Press L.L.C. (EPP), a globally successful, quality oriented printing house headquartered in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, decided to purchase an inline machine system from Gallus Stanz- und Druckmaschinen GmbH. The Gallus ICS 670 will be used to make folding carton products in a seamless process – from the roll to the finished, die-cut blanks. For the 600 people strong company this investment is the next step in following its strategy to expand its activities in the packaging sector.   The Gallus ICS 670 destined for EPP comprises four gravure units, nine EVA (Easy Value Add) platforms, a rotary embossing unit, and the Gallus FCL 670 flat-bed die-cutter. Mitsuo Komiyama honored with special recognition award

The judging panel for the Label Industry Global Awards 2012 has awarded Mitsuo Komiyama, chairman of the Japan Federation of Label Printing Industries, the Label Industry Lifetime Special Recognition Award. The award was presented during the VIP reception on 26 July as part of the 2012 Label Forum Japan which is being held at Tokyo’s Bellesalle Shiodome Center. Mr Komiyama was born in Tokyo in 1942 and joined the Fuji Shikou Co. (currently Lintec Corporation) in 1965. After working in Fuji Shikou’s sales department, he established Mimasu Seal Printing (Nakano-ku, Tokyo) in 1985 which became MSP Incorporated (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) in 2005. Focusing on the industrial label market, the company has three factories close to Tokyo in the Yamanashi Prefecture and operations in Thailand and the Philippines. Laser die-cutting workshops unveiled for Labelexpo Americas 2012

The organizers of Labelexpo Americas have announced further details of the Laser Die-Cutting Workshops which will take place as this year’s show returns to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, Chicago, between 11-13 September. The well-attended technology workshop format will return to the show floor with a live demonstration and comparison of four machines in Hall F. Sei Spa, Spartanics, AB Graphic International and Delta Industrial are taking part in four workshops which will be run by a neutral moderator. Each of these manufacturers’ machines will test a different cutter profile: blank die-cut computer-over-printable labels, prime product labels, industrial labels and special label solutions. Pre-printed labels for cutting at the show – with all the necessary re-registration eye marks and codes – are being produced by Xeikon, EFI Jetrion and Mark Andy, with MIS input from CERM and EFI Radius. Mercian Labels encourage microbreweries to amend label content to comply with the Government’s Public Health Responsibility Deal

Industry trends over the past several years played an influential role in The Standard Group’s most recent press purchase. Presstek Appoints Spicers Canada Limited as Distribution Partner

Presstek, Inc. Almost ten years to the date that Douglas Storrie Labels Limited installed their first Edale 5 colour Alpha, the company then went on to buy the company’s first ever Edale FL-350 press, championing the UK manufacturing company. This move kept in tradition of founder Douglas Storrie who was infamously proud of his British company with British machinery, offering great quality products and services to the British market. Over the last few years of global financial difficulty, Douglas Storrie sales increased and a major investment was made into new equipment.
