Label demand in the US is projected to reach $19 billion in 2017, with growth accelerating from the 2007-2012 performance based on a strengthened economy. The pressure sensitive segment will remain dominant, accounting for more than 75 percent of the total market. Although pressure sensitive labels will expand at a healthy rate, they will continue to face growing competition from alternative labeling methods for primary packaging, such as stretch sleeve and heat-shrink, and in-mold labels. Leading self-adhesive label manufacturer Royston Labels has added a new adhesive to its range of labelling technologies. With it, Royston can deliver solutions which enable wine and champagne brands to avoid the inefficient and costly processes usually required to prevent condensation during labelling. New Pressure Sensitive Adhesive – Novamelt® PS 2030

The labeling of food stuffs at refrigerated temperatures presents a challenge for any packager or label printer. Most often, the labeling occurs in the packaging line of cheeses and meats. The label is usually applied on various poly films at 0 to 5°C (32 – 40° F) in damp environments. The label is either rolled on or blown on with leading edge label blowing equipment.   A high initial tack from the adhesive is required that in effect “blankets” the label onto the poly substrate.
