Australian Studio Labels expands with Nilpeter FA-4* press

Studio Labels of Adelaide, Australia has expanded their production capabilities with the acquisition of a Nilpeter FA-4* flexographic press. In addition to increased capacity, the FA-4* adds inline flatbed foiling and embossing with the FP-4 and QC-Die value-adding units, a big factor for Miguel Alemao, CEO of Cork Supply Australia & Studio Labels. “Flatbed systems are commonplace nowadays, but more frequent on offset presses or offline finishing lines. You don’t see many fitted on new, top of the range flexo presses – I dare to say none in Australia. Combining a state-of-the-art flexo press with an FP-system will allow us to compete in the short run, highly embellished space typically associated with digital printing,” says Miguel Alemao. Mr. Alemao goes on to praise Nilpeter’s customer service during the acquisition, “The whole commercial process was excellent – they did a terrific job, ticking all the right boxes. We expect and hope for that to continue.” As expected, Erik B

Avery Dennison Adds UL 969-Recognition to Label Materials in the Durst Portfolio

Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials North America announced today it has received UL 969-recognition for a range of durable goods label constructions validated for use on the Durst Tau 330 digital printer. This is part of an ongoing commitment to expand material options for digital printing platforms. UL 96-recognition offers converters operating Durst Tau 330 presses more opportunities in the durable goods labeling area. With recognized label materials, they can quickly and cost-effectively use their digital assets to increase business in these segments. Label materials with UL 969-recognition offer converters significant benefits.  Converters using previously recognized constructions can simply file for a label adoption when submitting “printed” labels to UL for testing and certification. This can reduce the costs by up to 75 percent, reduce approval time from approximately 12 to two weeks, and virtually eliminate the risk a label will not meet UL requirements.  As one of

Wirt has spent the past 11 years working first for Xerox and then Fujifilm as a graphic arts s

Innovate not complicate: Edale’s design philosophy comes to fruition at Labelexpo 2017

Edale Ltd, the British manufacturer of high quality printing equipment, has for many years held retained the philosophy of being at the forefront of innovation, without over-complicating design. At Labelexpo 2017 in Brussels, the full results of this will be unveiled with live demonstrations of one of the most automated label press in the industry. The FL3 demonstration will centre on the drastic reduction of operator set-up, allowing for consistent and repeatable product to be created. James Boughton, Managing Director at Edale Ltd has stated: “One of the main concerns raised to us as a supplier to the Label Industry is the scarcity of new talented printers coming through. We took a decision a few years back to use this as a basis for our ‘Innovate not complicate’ design philosophy and came to the conclusion that by reducing operator input our customers would have control on quality and waste, no matter who the operator is”. The 6 colour FL3 will feature all of Edale’s latest
