Innovate not complicate: Edale’s design philosophy comes to fruition at Labelexpo 2017

Edale Ltd, the British manufacturer of high quality printing equipment, has for many years held retained the philosophy of being at the forefront of innovation, without over-complicating design.
At Labelexpo 2017 in Brussels, the full results of this will be unveiled with live demonstrations of one of the most automated label press in the industry. The FL3 demonstration will centre on the drastic reduction of operator set-up, allowing for consistent and repeatable product to be created.
James Boughton, Managing Director at Edale Ltd has stated: “One of the main concerns raised to us as a supplier to the Label Industry is the scarcity of new talented printers coming through. We took a decision a few years back to use this as a basis for our ‘Innovate not complicate’ design philosophy and came to the conclusion that by reducing operator input our customers would have control on quality and waste, no matter who the operator is”.
The 6 colour FL3 will feature all of Edale’s latest features and the live demonstration will give the show audience an insight of what can be achieved with Automation and in some cases Autonomous operation.
The Autonomous Inking, Impression and Registration feature (AiiR) allows the press to set the printing functions without operator adjustments. All the operator has to do is change the print cylinders and press the start button. The Edale software in conjunction with the proven AVT camera technology then takes control of the press, including a 100% inspection feature. The operator is then free to prepare for the next job.
The semi rotary die-cutting module will show auto die loading and unloading and Auto-Register. A job that could take 15 minutes in a production environment and produce a high amount of waste is now setup in less than two minutes with no waste and consistency, and with no real operator skill required. The Auto-Set Slitting again gives the same advantages. These, combined with the standard features of Job Storage, Break Free matrix, Gearless Impression, Pre-Register, Edale’s unique Uniprint system and further developments in spotless, fixed palette printing will truly showcase the options available to modern day printers and all on one press.
A new product from Edale for digital embellishments will also be shown at Labelexpo, the EFX Digital Print Bar.  The EFX Digital Print Bar system is a proven digital bar that replaces traditional methods for ease of use and efficiency. The system can be rail mounted on new presses as well as retro fitted onto existing presses. The EFX now boasts a wider range of solutions including digital foil and varnish, high build varnish and a screen replacement white.
Finally, for all those interested in Hybrid technology, a 6 colour Graphium unit will be incorporated into the Edale FL3. The Graphium is already an industry proven product and has been developed with the help of Edale’s 15 years’ experience in Hybrid technology.
We look forward to welcoming all to the Edale stand (Hall 7 Stand D39) to see our innovative full automation in action.
