UK label printer of the year - An Exeter company picked up the coveted title of ‘Label Printer of the Year’ in a glittering event last night (Monday, October 19).
James Townsend & Sons Ltd struck gold in the prestigious PrintWeek 2009 Awards, equivalent to the print Oscars, despite tough competition.
The family-owned company, which employs 90 staff, prints millions of labels every year for top selling food and drink products.
Company Director Gareth Coles said: “We’re delighted to see our company recognised as the best of the best in a highly competitive field. “This fantastic award recognises the commitment of our highly skilled team and our investment in cutting-edge technology.
“We invest heavily in both our people and our plant to provide customers with the highest quality labels to help make their products stand out from the competition.”
The award judges were impressed by the range of the company’s work, which demonstrates its versatility with different types of print, special colours and finishes.
Judging panel chair, Darryl Danielli, said: "It's fantastic to note that the level and quality of entries were so high, especially when you consider the economic climate.
“Once again the strength of entries proves that now, more than ever, print really does have cause for celebrating all that is great about the industry."
