B Graphic International has supplied Rochester NY based Label World with the first Omega Digicon Series 2 converting line equipped with flat bed tooling for stamping and embossing. The new line will enable Label World to offer its customers in the wine, nutritional and health and beauty markets advanced features such as hot foil stamping, embossing and spot UV varnish coatings.
The Omega Digicon series 2 from AB Graphic International is a modular label converting line for digitally printed webs and offers all the traditional finishing options. The company has recently introduced several new finishing modules that expand the range of applications available including the flat bed tooling option.
“We are especially excited to have the first Digicon Series 2 machine in North America with flat bed tooling for stamping and embossing,” said John McDermott, President and CEO of Label World. “Most other machines in the marketplace have rotary tooling. Flat bed tooling actually allows for better stamping and embossing quality because it is able to hold the substrate in a fixed position compared to rotary tooling in which the substrate is continuously in motion. Equally important, the cost of flat bed tooling is a fraction of the cost of rotary tooling, thus opening the opportunity of these premium features to a wider variety of potential customers.”
Between the cost effectiveness of flat bed tooling and improved efficiency of the Series 2 Digicon for set up times and waste reduction, McDermott believes that their new digital solution will be more attractive than ever to a wide variety of customers. “Customers are looking for ways to save money in all areas of their business. If we can provide them with a way to make printing their labels more economic, while also improving their quality and brand image, that is a great win for everyone!”
For almost 25 years, Label World has provided quality custom labels enhanced by value added services, to meet its customers’ product branding, identification, tracking and security needs. Its plant employs a variety of flexo presses and one HP Indigo ws4050 digital press.
The Digicon Series 2 with flat bed tooling module permits hot foil stamping of a variety of colours, embossing and spot coatings of varnishes to highlight particular areas of the label. These extra features are particularly important to gain consumer attention on the shelf in an increasingly competitive retail environment. Combining the high resolution and colour accuracy of the HP Indigo with these extra finishing capabilities will allow brand owners and designers to achieve the highest quality results for short and medium runs.
Adds McDermott, “For some time, our customers have been able to get high quality printing for short and medium runs at very affordable prices through our digital print solution. Now we can also offer them the premium features that will really help their labels to stand out in the marketplace.”
