RELEASE LINER: OPPORTUNITIES, ISSUES AND A CRADLE-TO-CRADLE RECYCLING PROGRAM

The annual forum for all concerned in the manufacture and use of release liners, the Global Release Liner Industry Conference, hosted by AWA Conferences & Events, takes place this year in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, March 30-31.  Held in alternate years in Europe and the USA, the event  complements AWA's extensive platform of market studies on the release liner industry.
Program outline
The comprehensive program features market data from AWA Alexander Watson Associates' specialist researches, and the results of the company's annual industry survey.   Expert industry presentations will explore both opportunities and issues in an industry which, as a whole, provides technical functionality across a variety of markets (particularly self-adhesive labels) but which continues to attract concern in terms of its environmental and waste management credentials.   As well as business development prospects, and geographical opportunities across all markets, conference sessions examine in depth material and technology innovation trends, with a panel discussion focussing specifically on silicone and release coating technology.   Presentations are provided by industry-leading companies spanning the release liner supply chain.
Release liner recycling
A ground-breaking session devoted to 'The Sustainable Life of Release Liner Paper' features three presentations – from Calvin Frost, CEO of Channeled Resources Group, who outlines the challenge;  Dr Krisztina Bordacs, Environmental Manager at end users Sara Lee, who reports on her company's liner recycling program;  and Petri Tani, President, Cycle4Green Ltd – a company that creates high-quality desiliconized pulp from release liner waste.
The formal conference program is complemented by a tabletop exhibition and extensive networking opportunities.
Supported by platinum sponsors UPM, and leading industry suppliers including Ahlstrom, Bluestar Silicones, Dow Corning, Evonik, Huhtamaki, Loparex, Mondi, and Wacker Silicones, the Global Release Liner Industry Conference 2010 will be held at the Hotel Okura, Amsterdam, 30-31 March 2010.  The program is detailed on the AWA website, www.awa-bv.com, where it is also possible to register online.
