Absolute aesthetic appeal in glass

The bottle's clean lines are without any trace of asceticism and it integrates
fascinating, harmonious contrasts

Alford & Hoff is without doubt one of the leading luxury men's cosmetics manufacturers. The American lifestyle brand provider, which specializes in luxury skin-care products, recently launched its first fragrance. It was created by world class perfumer, Rodrigo Flores-Roux of Givaudan. In Bologna, Gerresheimer is presenting the exquisite and perfectly aesthetic bottle, one of the highlights at this year's Cosmopack (April 15-18, 2010, pavilion 19, stand C41/D42).
The bottle design takes clean lines into a new dimension. There is absolutely no mistaking them, yet they are not manifested as asceticism or a lack of emotion. Glass and wood, materials with very different structures and color effects, plus the intrinsic color of the Eau de Toilette combine to create a languorous impression of contrasts between pale and dark, rough and smooth, warm and cool. Burkhard Lingenberg, Director Corporate Communication and Marketing at the Gerresheimer Group, believes these contrasts are what make the bottle so special. It is true that the bottle has a clean and understated design - yet it certainly provides an abundance of impressions and sensations to be experienced at one‘s leisure.
The smooth and generously dimensioned glass cylinder combines luxury and function as the perfect showcase for the golden-brown colored Eau de Toilette. Although the lid is unusual, it takes no getting used to whatsoever. Vertically grained wood fits flush to the flat glass shoulder as a continuation of the bottle's cylindrical shape. The matt-brown natural material, the perfume's transparent luminosity and the brilliant radiance of transparent glass, plus the heavy base which adds ice-cold light, combine despite or perhaps because of their contrasts into a uniquely harmonious entity.
The simple, excellently positioned, hot-foil embossed Alford & Hoff logo adds a touch of gloss to the otherwise unadorned glass surface. People don't immediately have to know that the logo appears umpteen times on the beautiful bottle because the glass designers have covered the base with little stylized relief AHs which transmit thousands of sparkling light reflections up into the bottle. Again, only one effect is perceived. And nothing more is necessary.
