Flexo Print delivers frequent, quick-turn print runs with the HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press

When it comes to serving high-profile clients such as Coca-Cola and Unilever, you don’t cut corners. Flexo Print, a label and packaging converter in Guadalajara, Mexico, constantly endeavors to meet the needs of big customers with high expectations.

“Our primary focus right now is on very high-quality labels in the cosmetic and wine markets,” says Fernando Aranguren, owner of Flexo Print.
Now, equipped with its new HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press, Flexo Print can better accommodate the rigorous needs of clients such as BioScents, an innovative cosmetics company that requires frequent, quick-turn print runs and quality labels that help its products jump off the shelf.

More power means new markets
When Flexo Print adopted digital technology six years ago, Aranguren instinctively turned to HP.
“HP is very eager to make the correct investments in digital printing technology,” he says. “They have a lot of support and resources to make this technology work.”
The company initially purchased an HP Indigo press ws4500 for shorter print runs. After finding success with the high-quality results, it quickly purchased another of the same model. Last year, Flexo Print stepped up its offerings yet again with the purchase of an HP Indigo WS6000 for even faster, longer print runs. With the additional power of its new press, Aranguren says:

The press operates at 98 feet per minute for 4-color jobs and supports repeat lengths of 12.48 x 38.58 inches, using more of the substrate and reducing waste. That means converters such as Flexo Print can produce work faster, while lowering costs and increasing profitability.

More frequent print runs
The HP Indigo WS6000 has revolutionized the way Flexo Print serves one major client, BioScents. Flexo Print produces self-adhesive bottle and tube labels for the cosmetics company’s fruit-scented lotions, body washes and oils—all 150 SKUs.
“They have a lot of different products, and they’re bringing a lot of new products to the market,” Aranguren says. “With the HP Indigo WS6000, we can give a very fast turnaround time, and the quality of the labels is excellent.” This high quality ensures the labels look great on store shelves, where BioScents’ presence really matters.
And because the HP Indigo WS6000 is ideal for short- to medium-run projects, BioScents can order smaller quantities more frequently, a strategy essential to their quickly changing market. Typically, the cosmetics company places orders of 10,000 – 20,000 labels per SKU every 15 to 20 days.
“Now we can work a lot with our customers in terms of their supply chain,” Aranguren says. “We can give them much better service if they order fewer quantities in industrial size, more often.”
The HP Indigo WS6000 also accommodates a wide variety of substrates, a perfect fit for BioScents’ labels and tube-shaped containers, which are printed primarily on plastic materials.
A passion for digital

Flexo Print plans to further test the capabilities of the HP Indigo WS6000 by incorporating more work with shrink sleeves and flexible packaging. They’re also exploring new market opportunities opened by the HP Indigo WS6000, such as security labels and variable data printing.
