Xeikon brings latest advances in digital label printing to Japan

Xeikon, a division of Punch Graphix, will present its latest advances in digital label printing at Label Forum Japan, which takes place in Tokyo’s Bellesalle Shiodome Center from July 22-23, 2010. During the two-day event, visitors to the Xeikon stand nr. 60 will have the opportunity to discover how Borble Ltd, a leading UK print specialist, is using Xeikon’s digital printing technology to meet the growing demand for fast-turnaround, short-run label printing.

Top quality short-run label production

Coca-Cola, Tesco and the National Health Service (NHS) are just some of the top brands that have placed their trust in Borble to print their labels, a trust earned through Borble’s clear focus on high-level customer service. The production of self-adhesive labels is one of the company’s core activities, with digital printing as the enabling technology. The Xeikon 3300 press, installed since January 2009, allows Borble to deliver high quality labels while meeting the growing demand for just-in-time short runs.

“In today's increasingly competitive environment, producing high-quality labels is no longer sufficient to differentiate you from your competitors,” says Gavin Scott, owner of Borble. “Service is what sets you apart. The self-adhesive label market has been traditionally dominated by litho and flexo print providers. But today, customers have reengineered their production workflows to hold less stock and are demanding fast-turnaround, just-in-time label printing. When it comes to short runs, traditional printers just can’t match digital for its cost and flexibility.”

Customer shares experiences first hand

Gavin Scott will be joining Xeikon at the table-top exhibition which runs in parallel with the Label Forum Japan conference. “I look forward to sharing with the local Japanese label converters why we invested in the Xeikon digital label presses and how they’ve taken us to the next level in label printing,” says Scott. “With the Xeikon 3300 we can deliver, fast and cost-effectively, top quality labels which set us apart from our competitors and enables us to win business.”

“Having Gavin with us at the event offers a great opportunity for label converters attending the Label Forum to share their experiences,” says Filip Weymans, Business Development Manager Xeikon Labels & Packaging. “Our Japanese customers will be able learn – directly from a fellow label converter – about the unique benefits of digital label printing.”

Alongside the Borble case study, visitors to the Xeikon stand will also be able to gain a deeper understanding of the Xeikon 3000 series of digital label presses, which have been designed specifically for the digital label market. This will include the new Xeikon 3500 which was just launched at Ipex 2010.

Xeikon 3500 takes production volume beyond 4,000 linear meters

Capable of handling web widths of up to 512 mm and producing 570 square meters per hour, the Xeikon 3500 enables cost-effective production of volumes beyond 4,000 linear meters using digital technology. With a top speed of 19.2 m/min, this press is ideally suited for the production of self-adhesive and heat transfer labels. Featuring true 1200 dpi resolution and 1200 x 3600 dpi addressability, the Xeikon 3500 delivers photographic image quality. Furthermore, the press is standard-equipped with 5 color stations, 4 for the standard process colors while the 5th allows the use of spot colors. The Xeikon 3500 also utilizes Xeikon’s new QA-I toner, which has FDA-approval for direct food contact and delivers levels of light fastness far exceeding others on the market today.

Billed as the largest label converting event in Japan, Label Forum Japan is a two-day conference and table-top exhibition attracting senior professionals from the Japanese label market. On stand 60, Xeikon product experts will inform visitors about the latest innovations for the label industry.
