Commercial Label Products is one of the UK's top digital label suppliers and manufacturers, with Xeikon technology now sitting alongside the company's existing HP and EFI Jetrion ink jet equipment. The company moved into digital production some five years ago and have invested over 1.2 million into new technologies in this period. They can now offer the 3 main different types of digital label printing, liquid toner, dry toner and Inkjet.
"Different jobs suit different technologies," confirmed Nigel Painton. "The ink jet technology, for example, which was installed in 2008, is being used to produce a wide range of external labels. It uses light fast inks with excellent weather resistant properties. It is well suited to this type of work. The Xeikon is ideal for strong whites and is food compliant and the HP is perfect for shrink sleeve and direct thermal papers. As a trade print house we have to be able to offer the right solution at the right price."
Nigel continues to say “We believe that we are unique – a worlds first, to have these three digital process all under one roof.”
The modern suite of digital machinery sits alongside traditional label production equipment such as flexographic, foil blocking and semi-rotary letterpress. "Each technology has its place in the market," adds Nigel. "It is common for more than one technology to be employed on our label orders. Our foil blocking machinery, for example, is busier now than ever before, foiling, embossing and die cutting digitally printed labels"
