Outstanding initial tack

HERMAperfectTack is a further innovation produced with multi-layer technology based on a standard dispersion adhesive.
A new second layer ensures fast and strong tack, particularly when it's cool and moist.
The result is an adhesive material that, without exception, offers an equivalent alternative to hot-melt products, but is easier to process and has been approved by ISEGA for contact with foodstuffs.

 initial tack

Offering fast and strong adhesion, particularly when it's cold and moist – and with optimum processability: HERMA has again used its innovative curtain coating plant to develop a new adhesive material. Thanks to an additional second layer, HERMAperfectTack offers outstanding initial tack, even in difficult conditions.

The adhesive designated 62Gpt is especially suitable for the blow-on process used for labelling at low temperatures, for instance, whereby labels are attached to often cool and moist substrates contactlessly by air. Even in this case, 62Gpt guarantees extremely precise application without slippage. This property is important when labelling pre-packed meat and processed meat products, for example, or generally with blister packs. In addition, the adhesive layer with 62Gpt is suitable for direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs (reduction factor 4) according to trials carried out by the German test institute ISEGA. Until now, users have usually chosen hot melts as an adhesive for all these applications. However, these are often more difficult to process than conventional dispersion adhesives, and the risk of "adhesive bleeding" is considerably greater.

Combined benefits
HERMAperfectTack, on the other hand, is based on the successful standard dispersion adhesive 62G. It already combines the benefits of classic dispersion and hot-melt contact adhesives such as excellent bonding properties – even under critical conditions – with outstanding processability at the same time.

To further strengthen the initial tack, HERMA applies an additional, second layer when manufacturing the new adhesive material. It influences the flow behaviour of the actual adhesive layer and thus ensures that it bonds faster and better with the surface to which the label is being attached. 62Gpt therefore offers bonding properties that are equal to hot melts in every respect. HERMA is currently probably the only adhesive material producer worldwide that uses a multi-layer coating procedure for commercial purposes on a large scale.

Five different versions
The new HERMAperfectTack adhesive material is available from April 1 2011. The initial choice of label materials is as follows: white adhesive label paper, either uncoated or semi gloss coated on one side for sophisticated labels printed in colour; or white thermal paper, in either economy or standard top quality with a protective surface coat on one side or protective top and bottom coat.
