Environmentally friendly air-cooled and water-cooled UV LED curing

Atlantic Zeiser to demonstrate process efficiency on the new SMARTCURE AIR and SMARTCURE at Interpack 2011.

Atlantic Zeiser Group, a leading innovator and technology supplier for digital narrow format, packaging and direct product printing processes, will demonstrate at interpack 2011 the new eco-friendly air-cooled UV LED curing module, SMARTCURE AIR, and the innovative UV LED curing system, SMARTCURE. The event takes place 12-18 May, and Atlantic Zeiser can be found in Hall 13 at Stand C12.

Interpack 2011 will also mark the first time Atlantic Zeiser has presented the combination of air-cooled SMARTCURE AIR 20/200 with an OMEGA 20/25 DoD inkjet printer. This new compact inline integration module meets the legal requirements of the pharmaceutical industry for coding and serialization of pharmaceutical products and packages, enabling pharmaceutical companies to cost-effectively print variable data and information. The new generation of air-cooled and water-cooled curing systems optimizes the printing process and are ideal for Atlantic Zeiser’s OMEGA, DELTA and GAMMA printer families.

The new cost-saving SMARTCURE AIR and SMARTCURE systems cure UV inks in an environment friendly manner thanks to their low energy consumption, absence of ozone emissions, reduced need for ventilation and cooling, and their operating life that outlasts lamp-based systems by a factor of one to ten. The SMARTCURE AIR doesn’t require any coolant, and offers the most advanced air-cooled UV LED curing with the highest irradiance available through its progressive thermal management and compact design.

The compact design of all Atlantic Zeiser UV LED Curing systems enables the units to be easily integrated into existing environments and helps optimize late-stage customization for coding and marking of packages and products with variable data at the end of the entire production process.

One special advantage of the LED technology can be found in the power-up process, which can be measured in milli-seconds. An LED can be switched on and off any number of times, and during the process only has to light up for the time in which the actual curing of the ink takes place. This saves energy, protects the substrates and increases the service life of the unit.

Perfectly matched to the new printers and UV LED drying units are the quick-curing special inks from Atlantic Zeiser. The inks impress with their high-contrast reproduction, top light-fastness and strong adhesion to non-absorbent surfaces, making them ideal for high-quality variable data printing on a wide range of substrates and surfaces. And there is almost no heating effect on the substrate, which is a significant advantage and very important for temperature-sensitive applications.
