Avery Dennison Expands Its Fasson® Customer-Ready Durables Portfolio To Include UL® Recognized B324 Durable Extreme Series Resin™ Thermal Transfer Ribbon From ITW Thermal Films

The Label and Packaging Materials division of Avery Dennison Corporation (NYSE: AVY) has added a UL® recognized durable resin thermal transfer ribbon, from ITW Thermal Films, to its Fasson® Customer-Ready Durables Portfolio.

Designed to simplify durable goods labeling, the portfolio has six Fasson® base materials, a clear overlaminate and two adhesives. All are UL-recognized, which streamlines application matching, UL testing and qualification, and are proven to work in the vast majority of durable goods applications.

Pre-qualified by UL, the ITW Thermal Films B324 Durable Extreme Series Resin™ thermal transfer ribbon can be paired with all six of the Fasson basestock labels and adhesive combinations included in the portfolio. The pairings create ribbon/label combinations that match specific OEM durable application needs. The base materials include: 3-mil synthetic paper and 2.3-mil white BOPP, each with a single adhesive option; and 2-mil white PET and 2-mil matte chrome PET, each with two adhesive options, suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

“The durable products marketplace has unique requirements,” said Paul Purdef, manager, thermal and laser film, Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials. “The Fasson Customer-Ready Portfolio was specifically created to not only meet the product identification, information and functional labeling needs of OEMs, but also to reduce the time and cost for securing UL recognition.

“Our pre-approved UL-recognized label stocks and adhesives, along with ITW’s B324 resin thermal transfer ribbon, enables printers to better serve OEMs in an easy and cost-effective manner,” Purdef said. “We’ve created a turnkey labeling solution that helps OEMs more adeptly execute speed-to-market strategies that lead to increased business opportunities.”

The B324 Durable Extreme Series Resin thermal transfer ribbon includes PrintheadSaver® technology, which maximizes printhead efficiency. In addition, the ribbon is included in the ITW Thermal Films Extreme Solutions™ online database, www.itwextremesolutions.com. Designed to make it easier for customers to find thermal transfer ribbon solutions to meet a specific market sector’s durability and functionality requirements, Extreme Solutions partners ITW Thermal Films with some of the world’s leading substrate manufacturers—like Avery Dennison—to help OEMs find the best thermal transfer ribbon/label application solution.

“Customers now have a single source to turn to for pre-qualified ribbon/label solutions, which reduces their time for pre-testing and lowers their costs,” said Charlie Beecher, sales manager, ITW Thermal Films – The Americas. “Both ITW and Avery Dennison share global reach, consistency, product compatibility, and common strategic initiatives. Our collective efforts are providing ready-to-implement durable barcoding solutions worldwide.”
