Kodak Featured in "Innovation Hotspot" for Brand Management and Protection Strategies for Packaging at Global Secure Summit 2011

Kodak helped brand owners and global packaging professionals learn how to dramatically improve their brand protection, product authentication and tracking systems at the Global Secure Summit 2011, held earlier this month in Prague, Czech Republic. Kodak was among cutting-edge technology providers featured in the event’s “Innovation Hotspot,” a showcase of the latest solutions and applications being used by brand owners to combat product diversion and counterfeiting.

“Brand owners invest millions of dollars into brand protection countermeasures to defend against product diverters and counterfeiters,” said Keith J. Cutri, Director, Business Development, Managing Consultant, Security Solutions, Kodak’s Business Solutions and Services Group. “But if the counterfeiters and diverters compromise the brand owners’ countermeasures, the investment is lost forever. Companies need to effectively implement layered security solutions that mitigate the risk of counterfeit manufacturing, while maximizing product tracking through the distribution channels.”

Cutri, a former FBI special agent with more than 25 years of industry experience, presented “Invisible Track & Trace Technology: How to outsmart the diverters and counterfeiters.” His presentation helped attendees understand how to defend against product diversion and illicit counterfeiting activities. Cutri was also recently featured in a special edition on tracking and tracing pharmaceutical products in Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News.

Kodak’s Innovation Hotspot also featured demonstrations of its entire brand protection portfolio, including the recently announced KODAK TRACELESS AD System for Antidiversion, a new track and trace authentication technology aimed to strengthen supply chain integrity.

“At the Global Secure Summit, Kodak engaged with brand owners from a number of industries including pharmaceuticals, technology, and cosmetics. Brand owners consistently addressed the need for applications with minimal impacts on their existing operations and investments,” said Cutri. “The drop-in capabilities of Kodak’s technology make these solutions easier for customers to justify and deploy.”

The TRACELESS AD System helps manufacturers and brand owners greatly reduce the likelihood of illicit counterfeiting and unauthorized reseller channels, while providing a product authentication and tracking system. The technology uses an invisible ink that enables manufacturers to apply alpha-numeric codes, barcodes and data-matrix codes for use on most major solvent-based continuous inkjet printers. Once applied, the special markings are made visible only with Kodak’s proprietary readers and viewers.
