Czech Republic label converter goes digital with EFI Jetrion 4900

At Drupa 2012 Czech Republic label converter, KZK, signed for its first investment into digital production with the purchase of an EFI™ Jetrion® 4900 UV inkjet press. KZK wanted to reduce waste as well as move into the short run market, and the purchase will bring additional lean manufacturing benefits not achievable with the company's former analog units.

KZK tiskarna was founded 17 years ago to specialize primarily in price labels. Starting with a single flexo label press, the company now has three Mark Andy presses on which it produces a variety of applications, with emphasis on the automotive and electrotechnical market. However, it was the desire to save materials and reduce waste which led KZK to search for a digital production unit, and after investigating the options available on the market, the company was quick to choose the EFI Jetrion 4900 which it purchased through Czech Republic reseller, Macron.

"Since deciding to purchase the Jetrion 4900, which we'll drive with EFI Fiery®, we've looked at other benefits that can be gained from this investment," said Michal Silling, KZK's CEO. "As well as make-ready, time and material savings, we can now proof straight on press to final stocks, run small and medium volumes, and incorporate VDP into jobs. The durability of the UV-curable inks is vital, as is opaque white ink, and the integrated cutting is perfect for all run lengths. But longevity and reputation are also important, and EFI offers us the support we need when adding digital to our existing analog production processes."
