Deadline Looms for Label Industry Global Awards

Time is quickly running out for entries and nominations for this year’s Label Industry Global Awards. Being held on 11 September at this year’s Labelexpo Americas in Chicago, the awards reward and recognize companies and individuals for their outstanding contribution to the label industry.

The deadline for submissions is Friday 18 May. Entry is free and the awards are open to all converters/printers and label industry suppliers. To participate entrants need to submit a short submission (500 words max) explaining why they meet the criteria and are eligible for the category they are entering. Completed entries can be submitted at www.labelawards.com.
There are four categories in total. The R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Avery Dennison, recognizes the values and vision of Stan Avery and his pioneering efforts. Nominees must have worked in the label industry for a minimum of 25 years and made a key contribution to the promotion and growth of the sector.

The Continuous Innovation Award sponsored by Labels & Labeling, Label & Narrow Web andNarroWebTech will honor a long-established supplier or converter that has been instrumental in pioneering the science and technology behind label manufacturing. Entrants must have been operating within the sector for 10 years or more and will need to demonstrate that they have developed markets/products for the benefit of the whole industry.

The New Innovation Award is for a specific innovation (technological or business practice) introduced during 2011. Entries will be judged on their degree of innovation, environmental efficiency and sustainability along with the practical and economic impact on service delivery.

The Converter Award for Sustainability/Environmental Responsibility, sponsored by Flint Group, is for a specific sustainable policy or innovation introduced in the last 12 months. Judges will look for the most sustainable and environmentally acceptable working practices made by converters in their purchasing, operational and manufacturing processes and that can demonstrate key materials, production, performance or consumer benefits.

Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, says: “The Label Industry Global Awards are considered to be the label sector’s very own Oscars and give companies and individuals the chance to be rightly recognized for their superb achievements and contributions. It is always truly inspiring to see and hear about their excellent accomplishments and we invite converters/printers and suppliers to share their secrets of success with us.”
Short-listed finalists will be announced in June.
