Craig and Parsons install fourth Edale Beta flexo press

Edale, UK manufacturers of web-fed flexo printing presses and converting equipment are thrilled to report that longstanding customer, Craig & Parsons, have purchased their fourth Edale Beta machine since their very first was installed back in 1999.

Craig and Parsons, based in Folkestone, Kent, were established in 1945 by Cyril & Win Craig- initially as a wholesale chemist - with the labelling division started up by their son Nigel in 1970, they found that the labelling side of the business sat nicely alongside the need to label the chemists bottles – and so business grew. Forward to 2012 and the company continue to run as a strong family business boasting three generations of experience and knowledge.

Stephen Craig, Production Manager of Craig & Parsons says, “We purchased our first Edale in 1999 and this new press will be our 4th Edale Beta 330. This is the first press that we have opted for water based and UV drying because we are producing more long run printed labels. We have already seen a dramatic increase in our productivity due to the decrease in down time in wash ups and cleaning of plates on the run. We find the Beta a great press because of its ability to be adapted and modified to suit any new enquiries that come in. All of our press’s have had quite major upgrades over the years by Edale and these have all been done in house with very little downtime and disruption to the production.

The company specialise in the production of printed labels for a wide range of sectors - and decided upon another Edale Beta 330mm wide press to allow them to cope with their enhanced workload which new business has brought in.

With over 80 installations worldwide, the Edale Beta is a highly versatile modular flexo printing press which has been designed for easy accessibility and flexibility enabling the operator to make simple, fast and accurate adjustments. The Beta has the capacity to incorporate 14 print stations and three converting stations, with the modular design making upgrades simple and allowing for a wide range of additional options. The wide combination of options combined with the ease of use makes the Beta a highly productive and reliable solution for the modern label and packaging printer, such as Craig & Parsons.

Nigel Craig, MD of Craig & Parsons, comments “When the need for a new machine arose, we did visit Label Expo Europe and had a look at machines from other manufacturers – but nothing jumped out at us. As we have always had a good relationship with Edale there was really no contest or sway to go elsewhere. We find the price of the Beta is also a lot more competitive than other manufacturers.”

Jeremy Westcott, Edale Sales and Marketing Director, comments “Craig and Parsons are a very valued Edale customer, and a true Edale house, having just installed their fourth Beta flexopress. They are a very impressive company, who we have great pleasure in working with”.
