WS Packaging Group to Speak on RFID Technology for Enforcing Brand Protection, Product Growth and Anti-counterfeiting Strategies

Michael Manley, business development manager RFID, (Radio Frequency Identification) & NFC (Near Field Communication) with WS Packaging Group will be a guest speaker at the upcoming Product Authentication & Brand Security Conference, Sept. 10-11, in Chicago, Ill.

Led by industry experts, the forum will assess the business, developments, opportunities and challenges encountered to create, implement and enforce brand protection, product security and anti-counterfeiting strategies. The focus will be on the role RFID technologies play in the process.

“Brand owners increasingly face challenges with the issues of product diversion into unauthorized channels, as well as counterfeiting,” said Manley. “Both damage brand image, commercial relationships, and the bottom line. Identifying sources of product diversion is a primary challenge and a growing concern for many brand owners today.”

A key feature of Manley’s presentation will be a case study about how New Sunshine, LLC, a manufacturer of well-known tanning lotions for professional tanning and beauty salons, is winning the battle against product diversion.
“New Sunshine has been fighting this challenge for more than 10 years,” Manley said. “By integrating RFID technology into the existing packaging, they were able to immediately identify the diversion source of counterfeit product with minimal impact to existing business process.”

The Product Authentication & Brand Security Conference is being linked with Labelexpo Americas 2012, also held in Chicago. Attendees related to the label industry will have a unique opportunity to gain valuable insight on the benefits of RFID technology and the emerging market segment.
