Impresion y Diseño de Mexico invests in Xeikon 3500

Leading Mexican label printer’s choice indicates Xeikon’s growing Latin American market presence.

Xeikon, an innovator in digital color printing technology, announced today that leading label converter Impresion y Diseño de Mexico, based in Guadalajara Mexico, has purchased a Xeikon 3500 to expand and further improve its digital label production capabilities.

The Xeikon 3500 is the flagship model of the Xeikon 3000 Series of digital label presses, which was launched in 2010. These high-performing printing presses all are five color machines differing in speed and width. The Xeikon 3500 runs at a maximum speed of 19.2m/min (63 feet/min) at 5 colors, and at a maximum width of 516mm (20.3 inches).

”We are dedicated to focus on the needs of our customers,” said Angel Calderon, president and owner of Impresion y Diseño de Mexico. “We already operate two digital presses, but feel that the Xeikon 3500 will provide our business unique benefits. This press has full rotary capabilities, which ensures a high level of productivity, and is unrivalled in terms of width. There is no need to coat standard label substrates when printing on a Xeikon press, which positively impacts my operational cost. This investment will enable Impression y Diseño de Mexico to expand our offering to our customers and to grow our business further.”

Filip Weymans, Xeikon’s director of segment marketing and business development for labels & packaging, adds: “We are delighted that Impresion y Diseño de Mexico chose Xeikon to complement and enhance  their stable of digital presses. More and more label converters in Latin America are discovering the flexibility and productivity of the Xeikon 3000 Series. We support our customers with our own local service hub in the region, which was installed nine months ago.”

The Xeikon 3500 is ideal for the production of self-adhesive labels.   Equipped with the Xeikon 3500 high-precision LED-based imaging head, it features true 1200 dpi resolution and 1200 x 3600 dpi addressability with variable dot density, generating excellent image quality.  The Xeikon 3500 is standard-equipped with five color stations, four for the standard process colors, while the 5th allows the use of spot colors or ‘one-pass’ opaque white to create a desired ‘no-label look’ on transparent labels. Print speed is unaffected by the number of colors used.

The Xeikon 3500 can produce up to 570 square meters (6,135 square feet) per hour in four- or five-color printing on a wide range of substrates. The Xeikon 3500 runs on Xeikon’s QA-I toner, approved for indirect and direct contact with dry food.
