Polyonics new battery tapes offer a proven, economical method to isolate batteries from external heat generated by adjacent components and/or additional batteries. They are also flame retardant and help prevent the propagation of fire. In addition, the battery tapes remain dimensionally stable over a wide range of temperatures. This allows the tapes to continue to isolate batteries throughout prolonged high temperature exposure during operation as well as temperature cycling during charging. The tapes are equally effective in consumer, industrial and automotive EV applications and, along with thermal and fire management, also provide permanent closure to battery cases and packs to help protect against potential fluid leakage.
The double coated versions of the battery tapes offer battery makers a non-mechanical attachment method for mounting batteries to frames, chassis etc. where preventing fire is also required. The flame retardant bonding tapes provide a strong, thin conformal bond line, can be configured with dissimilar top and bottom PSAs and include liners for die cutting.
Polyonics battery tapes are halogen free, REACH and RoHS compliant and tested to the UL94 VTM0 standard. They are available with 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0mils amber and 0.5 and 1.0mil black polyimide films and a variety of adhesives (PSAs) for total thicknesses as low as 1.6mils. All tapes include liners to suit most die cut and auto application processes. In addition, the battery tapes include optional ESD/antistatic and anti-counterfeit features.
