Kodak will showcase a raft of innovative print solutions at Gulf Print & Pack 2013 on Stand B1, Hall 4 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, April 8 – 11.
Visitors will be able to witness the new attention-grabbing possibilities of the KODAK NEXPRESS Digital Production Color Press with Kodak's NEXPRESS Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions that help printers differentiate themselves in a highly competitive market.
Achieve sparkling success
The KODAK NEXPRESS SX3300 Digital Production Color Press will demonstrate the extensive creative features of Kodak's NEXPRESS Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions which enable spot colors, gold* and pearlescent* effects, Kodak’s unique in-line dimensional printing, high-quality gloss, in-line watermarking, or coating in a single pass. Announced at drupa, the striking new inks help to produce stunning print products and help brands win the battle for consumers’ attention – particularly for book covers and direct mail applications. The NEXPRESS Press will also be showing the impact of its Long Sheet option for increased job flexibility and throughput.
Komal Sharma, Managing Director Kodak, Middle East & Africa, believes the new inks will have a big impact: “The metallic Gold sparkle effect adds something different and breathes new life into applications like direct mail, certificates, photo and tickets. You can also create variations of gold-toned tints, by putting combinations of process colours underneath the gold effect. Just check the ME Printer and Printweek ME March covers to experience the Gold effect or come and view a wide range of marketing communication leaflets and invitation samples at our booth.”
The Intelligent Calibration Solution (ICS) version 3 software, a unique element in the KODAK NEXPRESS Platform's Print Genius suite of productivity and quality control tools, ensures print uniformity and fast processing and enables a 20 percent faster processing time helping printers maintain peak quality throughout the production run.
Extensive portfolio showcased
Kodak will highlight the creative possibilities of the KODAK PROSPER S-Series Imprinting System, which uses KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology. The PROSPER Imprinting System allows users to create a hybrid set-up and produce personalised, highly targeted products. With faster job turnaround time, lower costs and higher productivity for imprinting applications when compared to roll-fed laser printing, the system is easy to integrate with existing equipment and production processes. Hybrid printing enables imprinting on the sheets inline as they pass through the offset press, eliminating drying time and saving up to two days in production time.
Showcased will be the drupa-launched KODAK SONORA XP Process Free Plate. Offering high-quality thermal imaging and the complete elimination of plate processing, SONORA XP Plates increase productivity, simplify operations, and remove costs by reducing the number of steps required for platemaking. SONORA XP Plates completely eliminate all costs associated with processing equipment and chemistry, while requiring less floor space and reducing energy consumption— all great for reducing the environmental footprint of printing, but even better for its bottom line. What makes SONORA XP Plates unique is that they offer all the benefits of process free, plus the productivity and print capabilities that printers expect from mainstream plates.
Kodak will be happy to discuss how the KODAK ACHIEVE All-In-One CTP System offers affordable access to its state-of-the-art imaging and plate technologies, ideal for customers transitioning to digital imaging for the first time or upgrading to a higher level of performance in that region. Sharma states: “Including platesetting, plates, workflow software, processing, and chemistry, the complete CTP System delivers all the benefits of Kodak's Thermal Imaging Technology such as exceptional image quality, true stability on press and operational efficiencies accessible now to all printers. With low-chemistry usage and reduced waste, potential cost savings and an improved environmental footprint can also be enjoyed by printers.”
There will be samples on display of the KODAK FLEXCEL NX Wide System, which handles KODAK FLEXCEL NX Plates up to 1067 x 1524mm (42 x 60in).
In addition to delivering quality equal to offset and rotogravure printing, KODAK FLEXCEL NX Plates significantly improve press-room efficiency, due to their wide color gamut, efficient ink transfer, and better print stability than traditional digital flexographic plates.
Workflow manages the efficient production and delivery of pages to the press. On the booth there will be two workflow stations, running live demos of the KODAK INSITE Prepress Portal System and KODAK PRINERGY 6 Workflow System. The award-winning PRINERGY Workflow is widely used among commercial print and packaging companies seeking increased prepress capabilities, customizable automation, third-party integration, and advanced color and screening proficiencies. The newest version of PRINERGY Workflow 6 goes even further by providing unified job management driven by production planning and job intent, resulting in reduced costs in the manufacturing process.
The INSITE Prepress Portal System automates some of the most critical workflow steps by providing secure web access to customers, prepress operators and service reps for remote job submission, progress tracking, collaboration, remote proofing and approvals.
Sharma concludes: “Meeting with customers and prospects at the show is an opportunity to understand the specific challenges they are facing, and allows us to determine which KODAK Solutions are best suited to their needs. We also explore new ways they can increase revenue and drive profitability. By working in collaboration with print houses this way, we partner with our customers to help them grow their business.”
