LEK Pharmaceuticals expands its range of Newman Labelling Systems

news_01Long standing customer Lek Pharmaceuticals in Slovenia has installed an S250 fully automatic labelling system from Newman Labelling Systems and a further system - a high speed VAL550 - has recently been delivered to label Ampoules and is in the final stages of regulatory qualification.

A highly versatile system, the S250 is being used by Lek to label bottles of various sizes at a speed of up to 220 c.p.m. The system is readily able to handle the variety in sizes, as well as other container formats, with a minimum of change parts.
The S250 has been supplied by Newman with infeed and outfeed turntables to provide an efficient feed of the bottles in to and out of the labelling system, along with a Systec vision system to read over print data. A full validation package, including functional design specification, has also been undertaken by Newman.

Newman Labelling Systems has been working with Lek Pharmaceuticals since the early 1990s. Klemen Hocevar, responsible for Technologist Maintenance Equipment at Lek, comments on the successful working relationship: "Newman's labelling systems run properly, without a lot of break downs / stops during 24/7 production. We have quite a lot of experience with Newman Labelling Systems. Newman gives us good, fast technical support."

This positive experience was a determining factor in the choice of the latest labelling system: "This machine was chosen because Lek has a good experience with Newman labelling machines. We also prefer their FLR system which is unique."
Lek was one of the first companies to use Newman's Faulty Label Removal (FLR) System. The FLR - which is optional on Newman pharmaceutical standard labelling machines - is a fully compliant and efficient system for removing faulty labels prior to application to a container. These faulty labels are then transferred to a paper roll for batch reconciliation and inspection. Such a system prevents the wastage caused by other systems which instead reject a container after the faulty label has been applied. The system is being used on a high spec Newman S350 automatic self adhesive labelling system at Lek Pharmaceuticals.

In addition to the new labelling systems purchased by Lek Pharmaceuticals, Newman is also undertaking a range of upgrade work to a range of Lek's existing equipment, such as installing colour cap detectors.
Newman Labelling Systems is a leading manufacturer of specialised labelling machines for the pharmaceutical industry, with a customer base that includes the world's top ten pharmaceutical companies. All Newman Labelling Systems are compatible with the leading Vision System equipment to accommodate the latest Track & Trace applications and are fully compliant with FDA cGMP requirements; they can be supplied with validation completed up to PQ. .
