New sustainable release liner capacity comes on stream in Malaysia: Stellar Films Group invests for the future with Akronn Industries
Akronn Industries’ new purpose-built production facility in Nilai, near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is equipped to manufacture high-quality release liners for the hygiene, photovoltaic, graphic arts, tapes, and other industrial markets – all major growth markets for release liner today.
Paper- and film-based products
The new facility houses the widest-web production line in Asia today, and is focussed on solvent-free coating of both paper and film substrates; multi-colour back printing; and narrow-coil slitting capabilities. Customers around the world will be able to source a diverse mix of paper- and film- based release products, sustainably-produced in an eco-friendly plant. Akronn Industries’ Technical Director, Peter Symons, confirms: ‘From the beginning, we set out to build a state-of-the-art, world-class facility to enable us to offer our customers efficiency and flexibility. We feel we’ve accomplished that goal.’
A strategic initiative
Within the broader context of Stellar Films Group’s release liner business, Akronn Industries’ products will also complement the high-performance cast embossed release films that are central to Stellar’s global product offering. That the creation of Akronn Industries is a strategic move is confirmed by Stellar Films Group’s CEO, Stephen Walters. ‘Our customers’ needs are our top priority.
