Canadian printer Labels Unlimited has been in business since 1985 and their label and packaging customers run the gamut from the food and beverage industry, to hospitals and even into semi-pharmaceutical businesses. The company was searching for a press solution that would enable them to serve the needs of these industries. As General Manager Larry Chartrand says, “Virtually everything we do is custom. What do you want? We’ll make it.” Short runs and specific customer needs led them to choose a Xeikon 3030 press.
Labels Unlimited needed the capability to produce labels of various shapes and sizes, using temporary or permanent adhesives and other variables. The Xeikon 3030 gives them the capabilities they needed, along with excellent training resources and customer support, according to Chartrand. They are able to do design work from ground up, modify existing designs or use finished artwork.
It took a couple of years for Labels Unlimited to choose their digital press. One of the deciding factors was the ability of Xeikon presses to print on a large variety of substrates that Labels Unlimited can use. Labels Unlimited also found that the print quality of Xeikon technology is more consistent versus the competitive offerings. Furthermore, Xeikon’s toners have higher lightfastness ratings than other digital printing technologies and they are environmentally safe. “The combination of all those things came together and now that we have the press we know we made the right decision,” concludes Chartrand.
