Atlantic Zeiser launches a reliable and fast encoding of labels at Emballage 2014

Users can now print variable information on pharmaceutical labels, typically for vials, faster, more economically and more reliably than ever before. At the Emballage 2014 in Paris, Atlantic Zeiser (Hall 5a, Booth K 022) is premiering a system for especially durable label encoding. Based on the company’s own high-performance UV curing inks, the DIGILINE Label printing system achieves brilliant results while offering outstanding resistance to wear, solvents and alcohols. Compared with thermal transfer printing, which has dominated the market to date, the new system also delivers significant benefits of higher speeds, fewer downtimes in production thanks to consistent print quality, and lower running costs. Furthermore, DIGILINE Label is compatible with numerous different label papers and plastic films.

Integral label buffer

By exploiting the advantages of contactless DoD inkjet printing, DIGILINE Label can print codes and directly feed the applicator at a rate of up to 60 m (197 ft.) or 400 labels a minute. It therefore achieves much higher production speeds than thermal transfer printers, which seldom exceed 15 m/min. In the absence of ink ribbons and heat bars, the use of high-performance UV curing inks also cuts the cost of consumables. The nuisance of production interruptions, typically caused by a jammed thermal transfer ribbon or claims due to abrasion of the code in the packaging line or the secondary packaging, are also a thing of the past. Thanks to its intelligent transport system with integrated label buffer, DIGILINE Label responds automatically to fluctuating applicator speeds, which is essential for especially reliable printing and dispensing workflows. Practically uninterrupted production during roll changes is made possible by two unwinders with integrated splice feature. DIGILINE Label additionally offers the compelling benefit of a compact, space-saving design that complies with the most recent GAMP guidelines. Operation is from a central touch screen with an intuitive user interface. DIGILINE Label is available with a print head width of 36, 72 or 144 mm.
