, a global leader in color science and technology, and its subsidiary Pantone LLC, together with Canon Europe, a world-leader in imaging solutions, today announced a new version of X-Rite’s i1Process Control color management solution which is sold with the Canon imagePRESS digital color presses. i1Process Control version 5.1 includes the X-Rite i1Pro 2 color calibration and profiling solution, the new standard for color perfectionists, along with updated i1Process Control software specifically tailored for a Canon workflow. It can be optionally bundled with X-Rite’s i1iSis 2 XL, an A3/SRA3 automated chart reader to automate printer profile creation.

“This latest version of i1Process Control ensures that print service providers will be able to take full advantage of the exceptional color capabilities of Canon’s line of imagePRESS digital color presses,” said Chris Winczewski, Vice President, Strategy and Product Planning, X-Rite. “By tailoring the X-Rite solution for a Canon workflow, we’ve reduced the need for manual adjustments to color, improving overall productivity. We’ve also made it easier than ever to accurately print spot colors using named color profiles, a growing requirement in today’s demanding market.”

X-Rite i1Process Control version 5.1, in combination with the i1Pro 2 spectrophotometer or the i1iSis 2 XL automated chart reader, assembles X-Rite's industry-proven suite of color management and control technologies into a single, easy-to-use solution for Canon printers using L*a*b* and spectral formats. Its simplified interface allows users to build ICC profiles for both display and CMYK output devices. In addition to ICC technology, i1 Process Control incorporates spot-color palette building tools. These tools provide the additional color control required to get the highest quality reproduction of Pantone® and custom spot color libraries.

i1 Process Control includes support for a variety of industry standard verification bars to help ensure that the Canon workflow is consistent with printing standards, including:

FOGRA 51FOGRA MW3ISO 12647-7:2016ISO 15311-2:Rev 2017 (PSD)

The X-Rite i1Process Control also includes support for measurement condition M1, the standard method of measuring substrates and imaging or proofing colorants enhanced with optical brighteners. In addition, measurement data can now be saved in CxF format in compliance with ISO 17972-1:2015. Version 5.1 features an updated display tool for greater ease of use as well as the ability to analyze and average measurement data to create averaged ICC profiles.

“Our long-term collaboration with X-Rite continues to add value to Canon’s digital color offerings,” said Antony White, European Marketing Specialist of Canon Europe. “This is especially important as we continue to enhance the real-world productivity, versatility and color quality of our imagePRESS digital presses. By incorporating i1 Process Control into their workflow, imagePRESS owners will be able to position themselves even more competitively and deliver the accurate, consistent color their customers demand.”
